About Our Instructors


 

Ms. Christie was born in Hollywood, Florida and has made her home in the Sunshine State ever since.  She has her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and a Master's Degree in Education from Nova Southeastern University.  In 1992 she received her certification as a dance teacher from the Chicago National Association of Dance Masters.  Ms. Christie is also a member of the Professional Dance Teachers Association and the International Tap Association. 

Learning from the best in her field has contributed to Ms. Christies' successful career.  She has studied with dance masters including Patti Martin, Daria Melendez, Henry Le Tang, Linda Gache, and Al Gilbert.  As a performer Ms. Christie worked with several local companies including La Mystique, The Miami Repertoire Company, and Hollywood Playhouse performing in a range of productions including City of Angels, A Chorus Line, Can Can, 42nd Street, and Cinderella.  Before opening her own studio Ms. Christie was the pageant and dance director for the ABI Studios. 

A talented choreographer, Ms. Christie has created award winning choreography for a number of events and performances including the Summer Olympics opening in Atlanta, Georgia, the Miami Hurricanes halftime show, Disney's Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and MGM Studios, Universal Studios of Florida, as well as various local, annual productions. 

The year 1995 marked the opening of Ms. Christie's signature studio, Dancer's Gallery, which is now located in its brand new home in Miramar, Florida.  Ms. Christie is the founder of the Madison Brody Dance Foundation, a non-profit dance company located in Miramar, Florida.  She is a dedicated and hardworking contributor to the culture of the local and surrounding communities. 

Ms. Christie has generously served as a consultant to other dance schools helping them develop programs and offer a curriculum with wide-ranging appeal for students.  As an educator she is the most passionate about teaching tap dance!  Her classes cover a number of styles including Rhythm Tap, Musical Theater Tap and Hoofing.  Students concentrate on listening skills as well as developing tap sounds, rhythm, quality, and basic tap vocabulary. 

 

Mrs. Marianela is originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina.  She lived in Hawaii for about seven years.  That is where her first dance training began.  Local Hawaiian dance along with Mexican folklore were her first taste of the art of dance.  When Mrs. Marianela ended up in South Florida her interest in dance grew and she trained in ballet, tap, jazz and modern but was interested in anything new that was locally offered.  She joined the company of her local dance school and performed and competed with them in her teens.  After high school Mrs. Marianela attended college for Business Management but her love of dance and teaching won out. 

Mrs. Marianela has been teaching dance since 1994 and especially loves teaching younger ones.  Her focus is tap, ballet and jazz but has also taught gymnastics, hip-hop and musical theater.  She has taught at many preschools and has been teaching at Dancer’s Gallery since they opened in 1996. 

Her joy in teaching young ones is knowing that along with good technique, she is imparting to them the love of dance and of learning new things.  She loves helping them grow into stronger, confident people always reaching high and striving to do their best in all they do!

  

Mrs. Candice was born and raised in South Florida.  She began dancing when she was 8 years old.  The following year she auditioned for dance company and was the youngest person in company, dancing with teenagers.  Soon after starting company she was dancing all throughout Florida.  Mrs. Candice has performed at Disney's Magic Kingdom, Universal Studios of Florida, Arabian Knights, and at University of Miami football halftime shows, just to name a few.  As a teenager Mrs. Candice began dancing professionally with Dancers Inc., a dance group that performed all over the South Florida area.  At the age of 13 years old she was a teacher's assistant at Dancer's Gallery and within a couple of years was teaching her own classes. 

 

Ms. Barbara has been teaching ballet at Dancer's Gallery for over 10 years.  She received her early training in Miami, Florida, under the direction of Alecandre Gavrilov and Thomas Armour.  Her New York training was at Ballet Russes de Monte Carlo and she also studied in France.  Ms. Barbara's professional experience includes:  The Miami Ballet, Greater Miami Opera, and many others.  She has toured with Harry Belafonte, Robert Goulet, Gene Kelly, and Liza Minelli.  She was also a June Taylor dancer on the Jackie Gleason and Dom Deluise show. 

 

Mrs. Moraima was born and raised in Puerto Rico where she started dancing at the age of 6 at "Balleteatro Infantil de Nana Hudo."  In 1990 she became part of "Bailos" Dance Company directed by Edwin Ballester.  This opened the doors to an exciting career.   In 1991 Mrs. Moraima was appearing in TV commercials, Music Videos and touring with the top singers in Puerto Rico, such as Wilkins, Yolandita Monge, Ednita Nazario, Manny Manuel, Elvis Crespo and Millie Corretjer.   

In 1995 Moraima went to New York City as part of an exchange program with a Presidential grant.  There she studied in the Dance Department at Hunter College.  During this time for the next year, Mrs. Moraima also took weekly classes at Broadway Dance Center.  In 1997, Mrs. Moraima became a choreographer for Wilkins and many children's musicals in which she was also a dancer and also part of the cast.  In 1999  Mrs. Moraima graduated Magna

Cum Laude from the Drama Department at the University of Puerto Rico. 

The next year Mrs. Moriama moved to South Florida and has since then received her certification for Child Care by NOVA South Eastern University, as well as her certificate as a Personal Trainer by NCSF and as a Group Fitness Instructor by AFAA.  Mrs. Moraima is married and has a young son.

  Ms. Feiruz  is originally from Santiago, Chile.  She moved to Miami at the age of five.  Recognizing that she was a highly inquisitive and energetic girl, Ms. Feiruz' mother introduced her to a wide variety of music, arts, crafts, and dance when she was a child.  She decided that her favorite art was dance and discovered Belly Dance as a young adult.

Mrs. Feiruz has been dancing professionally for over 10 years.  A dedicated and consummate professional, Ms. Feiruz' dedication and discipline have earned her a good reputation in the Miami Belly Dance community.  Her sensual yet tasteful dance routines have been the feature entertainment at many venues and private parties throughout the Miami area and the world.
  Mrs. Cherrise has a strong background in dance and the performing arts.  She began her studies at the age of nine, in Olympia, Washington.  Dance became her passion, so she began to pursue her well-achieved career in entertainment after graduating from Tumwater High School. 

She moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, and became an acrobat in the well renowned show Le Folies Berger at the Tropicana Hotel.  After fulfilling her Vegas experience, she continued to wow audiences by singing and dancing aboard cruise ships for Norwegian Cruise Lines and Holland American Cruise Lines. 

Mrs. Cherrise has had the opportunity to film music videos with Shakira and La Bouche.  She has worked on many commercials, television shows and films such as CSI-Miami, Justin and Kelly, Out of Time, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Speed Logic, and The Roof.  Mrs. Cherrise has also performed in many corporate shows for Nike and General Electric as well as VIP events at the Atlantis Resort in Nassau, Bahamas. 

Forever in search of new challenges, Mrs. Cherrise has gone through rigorous training performing as a trapeze artist for Michael McPherson of Poet Production,  She was also the choreographer of both Four and Visions for Poet Theatricals at Casino Estoril, in Portugal. 

Through her extensive travels, Mrs. Cherrise's most memorable experience was performing for the United States Troops and their families stationed at the Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa, Japan. 

 

Mrs. Kelly has a strong dance background,  She began her studies at the age of 3 in Spokane, Washington.  She was trained in ballet, jazz and tap.  Ballet was Mrs. Kelly's main focus and she was trained in the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus.  She grew up doing many competitions and received high scores through out.  In her competition years, Mrs. Kelly had the pleasure of working with Mia Michaels, Davy Scott, Hillary Cartwright and Davy Massey. 

At the age of 17, Mrs. Kelly started dancing professionally and traveling around the United States with Vertigo, a magic show production.  She then moved to Florida to further pursue her dance career.  Once in Florida, she started working with several different dance companies.  She has performed in many shows, including Chicago, Grease, Dirty Dancing, Motown, Victor Victoria, West Side Story, Tribute to Barry Manilow and Hairspray, Moulin Rouge, Cirque Du Monde, Hot Latin Rhythms, and more.  She has performed in many corporate shows for Nike, Verizon, Motorola, Siemens, as well as performances in Japan, Mexico, and the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas.  Mrs. Kelly also appeared in 2 Fast 2 Furious and Justin and Kelly movies. 

 

Ms. Chantall was born in South Africa.  She started dancing at the age of 5 years old.  She then furthered her training by completing her R.A.D., Cecchetti and S.A.D.T.A. examinations with honors, while being privately coached in the Vaganova method.

In her professional career overseas Ms. Chantall performed with Ballet Theatre Afrika, State Theater Ballet and South African Ballet theater as well as    in South Africa and the United States.  Her repertoire includes:  Giselle, Romeo & Juliet, King Lear, Nutcracker (Sugar Plum, Dew Drop, Snow Queen, Cinderella, 'Listen with Your Eyes Shut,' by Paige Dawtry, 'Worlds Apart' and 'Back' by Warren Adams, ' Umyo Womzannsi' by Alfred Hinkel,  'Thari' by Vincent S. Mannsoe, 'These Illusions' by Mpambo Wina, and more.

Chantall's goal as a teacher is to share her knowledge, discipline and passion for ballet.
 

Mrs. Antonella is a Certified Belly Dance instructor who has been teaching since 2006. She grew up in south central Pennsylvania.  She started her career as a Registered Nurse then went on to become a Director in Pittsburgh, PA.   After moving to South Florida her interest in dance became sharply focused on Egyptian Raks Sharqi.  Today, Mrs. Antonella enjoys teaching and choreographing Oriental Dance.  She has received Master level Instruction from many world renowned teachers – Saida of Argentina, Virginia, Yousry Sharif, Amir Thaleb, Tito Seif, Tamalyn Dallal, Feiruz, Ella Rogers, Daniela and Maria Jammal.   She has received Certifications from the Middle East Performing Arts of Belly Dance Instruction, Virginia’s Live Music Series for Music Interpretation and Dance Improvisation, and a series on the Life and Music of Oum Kalthoum with instructors Elias Kilzi, Joe Zeytoonian and Miriam Eli.   Other certifications include the use of props in dance-- cane, Saidi, veils, sword, fanveil, zills and Isis wings.  

Mrs. Antonella combines traditional Belly Dance with modern elements to offer a broad spectrum of the Art of Belly Dance.  Incorporating Fusion, Folkloric, and precise articulation technique she is able to provide aspects of Belly Dance that are challenging and exciting.  She has appeared in the theatrical presentations of Virginia’s Rakstar, Joharah’s International Hafla and Zully’s Annual Hafla. Belly Dance Company students have appeared most recently in South Florida’s Raks Habibi III 2010, Zully’s 2010 Belly Dance Hafla and Star Power 2010 Dance Competition.

 

Ms. Tracy has been a dance instructor for over thirteen years from the West to the East Coast and also in Canada. She has performed throughout the world on many prestigious cruise ships including those of Holland America Line and Royal Caribbean.  In addition to dancing as a corps member, she performed as a flyer on the Spanish Web, was a featured soloist and became part of an adagio team.  Working as a performer on cruise ships, Ms. Tracy not only saw the world but worked with the choreography of Anne Reinking, Mark Dow and Sherry Zunker Dow (Rivernorth) among others, enriching her experience and enhancing her foundation as an artist.

Ms. Tracy has danced with the Oakland Savage Jazz Dance Company, Spectrum Jazz Dance Company in Seattle, the Berkley Ballet and the Oakland Ballet Company. She has trained extensively with some of Americas top teachers in L.A. and New York and won many scholarships during her dance career.  Ms. Tracy was also a successful competitor earning the national title of “Ms Dancer of the Year” and the “I Love Dance Sweetheart” in NYC which makes her a valuable coach and choreographer. She has also won awards for excellent choreography and has a particular knack for making dances with enhanced style and theatrical appeal.  Currently Ms. Tracy performs with Kevin Black Productions and is an active judge with the “I Love Dance” competition.  She enjoys working with young people and is delighted to have the chance to choreograph and teach aspiring dancers. She looks forward to exploring movement and music with our young dancers and cannot wait to create new works.

  Miss Heather is a Florida native who started her dance career very early at 4 years old.  She is a graduate of the Palm Beach County School of the Arts where she majored in dance and minored in theater.  Her specialty is hip hop, combined with her broad dance background, creating an edgy style of unique choreography, which set her aside from the standard.  As a performer, Heather is best known for her fearless character ~ the first to test the most impossible tricks ~ which gives her an edge that isn’t easily duplicated.  Heather is currently a member of  Live in Color, a South Florida based hip hop dance crew, and can been seen in many music videos from artist such as: Lil Wayne, Sean Kingston, Don Omar, and Casely.  She has also performed backup for these artists as well as for Black Dada, Macallee King, and Smokey.   Heather teaches locally, but also travels to perform and teach at workshops and venues throughout the country. 

 

Mr. Kevin is president and owner of Kevin Black Productions, Inc., brings 14 years of entertainment performance and production experience to every client. 

Mr. Kevin began studying his craft at the early age of twelve and upon completion of his high school diploma he was offered his first professional role in the touring company DanceScape as the male lead.  He then attended North Carolina School of the Arts, majoring in Theater Production with a minor in Business and Theater Management.  During his breaks from school, Mr. Kevin performed professionally on renowned cruise lines such as Norwegian, Carnival and Royal   Caribbean Cruise Lines.  In hiatus from his busy schedule, Mr. Kevin studied in New York City with the city’s most celebrated choreographers such as Michelle Asaaf, Frank Hatchet and Thommie Walsh. 

It was in the cruise ship industry where Mr. Kevin began to focus his career as a choreographer, director and producer.  He worked for four years with producer Jean Ann Ryan as a General Manager of her  Norwegian Cruise Line contracts, as well as directing and choreographing various productions.  He then began his own company, Kevin Black Productions, Inc., in 1992, and has since produced and directed shows onboard Discovery, Sea Escape and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, as well as extensive tours of the South Florida area.  Mr. Kevin is a well sought after producer and choreographer Florida.  Known for his new and fresh style of entertainment, his congenial manner and his ability to produce events on time and on budget, Mr. Kevin brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to every client.  His abilities also include being an experienced costumer, lighting designer and set constructor. 

In 1998, Kevin Black Productions joined forces with several elite event companies to form The Event Management Group, Inc.  Kevin is the artistic director and sole entertainment vendor for The Event Management Group producing both social and corporate events in the South Florida area and nationwide.  He enjoys the responsibilities and rewards of owning his own business, yet working as an important part of this exciting team. 

 

  Maria Ines Setrritella, native to Miami, Florida, began at the age of four, her training towards becoming an experienced dancer, choreographer, instructor, and performer. She is a graduate of the New World School of the Arts (NWSA) high school and college programs earning an Associate of Arts in Dance, and of Florida International University (FIU) earning a Bachelor of Science in Education. 

While at NWSA, Maria focused on intense training in dance fundamentals Jazz, Modern, and Ballet. Her repertoire includes Classical Spanish Dance, Belly Dance, Hip-Hop, and Tap. Combined, her intense training and recognition gained her the prestigious NWSA  Deans Award", awarded from renowned dance master, choreographer, and Dean of Dance, Daniel Lewis.

Maria has held positions in Miami-based dance companies Freddick Bratcher and Company Contemporary Dance Theater, Ballet Espanol Rosita Segovia, and Cultural Dance Theater, as well as various production companies.

The core of her training is attributed to acclaimed choreographers and instructors from professional dance companies such as Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, Jose Limon, Martha Graham, and New York City Ballet. While in New York City, Maria continued her dance education at Paul Taylor Dance Company and Broadway Dance Center.

Among acclaim she has received throughout her career as a dancer and choreographer, her work on Alma Cubana", a Spanish musical for Miami Orma Enterprises, Inc. earned her a nomination for "Best Choreography" from La A.C.C.A., an awards organization formed to recognize performing artists. 

Presently, Maria continues to educate and train  students of dance, works as a make-up artist, and can be seen making acting appearances on television, film, and video.
